FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions)
How does Getic Fiery Crystal X Online English Tutoring work?
After browsing all of the pages on our website, and you are very interested in our pricing plans, we suggest you do the following:
- First, contact us directly either through the Contact boxes or Chat box on our website.
Then, we will tell you how to contact us on Zoom, Google Hangouts, WhatsApp, or Skype for a 15-minute video consultation/instruction session. We suggest that you read our Terms and Conditions as well as all of the FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions) BEFORE we meet you personally.
Next, we can meet you face to face on the platform of your choice for 15 minutes, so we can determine your English language level (A1 – C2) as well as your learning needs.
After that, we will ask you to order one of our specialized plans whose complete description you can find on our "Plans & Pricing, Class Payment & Booking Page" page. You can place your order from this same page. Remember to fill out ALL of the required fields on the form.
Then, we will send you an e-mail letting you know about our payment methods. At this point, you may choose to pay via PayPal after we send you an invoice, or via Wise.
Once we have received your full payment, we can finally book your minutes or hours based on the class timetable of your choice - 50 minutes 3 times a week, 75 minutes 2 times a week, or 150 minutes 1 time a week.
The last thing for you to do is to meet us for your first lesson.
How do I get a tutor?
My husband and I will be the ones you will meet for the first time during the FREE 15-minute Zoom, Google Hangouts, WhatsApp, or Skype video consultation/instruction session. We will determine your English level and take notes on your specific English learning needs. Once you have decided which plan to buy, and you have already paid for it in full, you may choose with which tutor you would like to work after you book your classes with us.
Can I work with the same tutor again?
Of course, you can work with the same tutor again if you think that you are improving your English! We also recommend you change tutors sometimes because different genders and different people in general have different communication styles, pronunciation, and even regional expressions.
From my personal experience, I like to practice a foreign language with tutors of different genders. In my case, while attempting to learn Thai, I could understand the pronunciation of the male tutor much better than that of the female tutor. In the end, however, it is your decision because it all depends on your specific needs. My husband will be more than happy to help you when you need a male tutor.
What's the minimum time to work with a tutor?
At this time, our mini school does not have a minimum or a maximum time to work with a tutor. In the beginning, I will be tutoring/teaching/coaching learners for about 80% of the time, and my husband, Robert, will provide support for me 20% of the time.
If the number of students increases dramatically, then our mini school will need to hire new tutors/teachers. Once that happens, we can set minimum and maximum hours for each tutor/teacher. Until that time, Robert and I will be more than happy to accommodate you with your English learning needs.
Do I have to study with a partner?
No, you do not have to study with a partner. If you feel more comfortable studying directly with the tutor/teacher, then you are welcome to study alone. Actually, most of the plans 1-2-3 that we offer are specifically intended for individual learners. Pairs and groups of 3 learners are allowed for the purpose of decreasing overall fees for those learners who do not have enough funds to pay the entire hour.
We offer learners the chance to study with a partner for two main reasons: 1) to increase the learning confidence of those learners who are very shy, and 2) to decrease the hourly tuition for those learners who do not have all the funds to study alone.
If you choose to study with a partner, you will also receive a higher discount compared to when you study alone.
Can I study with more than 1 partner?
Yes, learners can NOW study NOT only with 1 partner, but with 2, and even 3 group members.
Remember that learner practice time decreases as the number of learners increases in a group. Tutoring itself is so much more effective because of the maximum personal attention that learners can get. We feel that our tutoring rates are quite competitive considering that the hourly rate can accommodate any learner from those who can afford to pay the hourly rate and study alone to those who can afford to study in pairs, or even in groups of 3 or 4. You may review our different plans on our Pricing, Payment & Booking page.
What age groups do you tutor?
We prefer the minimum age for our learners to be 10 years old. There are already many companies teaching young elementary-school children, so we would not like to overlap with them. During the class, unless parents are willing to supervise their children who are younger than 10 years old, the youngest age will not go any lower than 10.
Our target clients are usually middle school, high school, college and university students as well as COMPANY professionals who are looking for specific language development that would help them in their occupations.
Which online platform should I choose?
We offer you a choice among FOUR platforms: Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Hangout, or Skype.
Zoom is the best if you choose to study three times a week for 50 minutes and/or if you choose to study with a friend or in a group of 3. We love Zoom because it has special features for education.
Microsoft Teams has a variety of features that are useful for much bigger classrooms. We would probably use this platform for teaching 3 to 4 students at one time for any time period - 50 minutes, 75 minutes or 150 minutes.
Skype and Google Hangouts are very good for individuals or pairs studying for 1 hour.
We prefer to use WhatsApp ONLY when we first meet you mainly because it's uncomfortable for us to use the smartphone for long periods of time.
How experienced are you in teaching English as a foreign language?
Both Robert and I have university degrees as well as certificates for teaching English. In addition, we have English language teaching experience in South Korea and Thailand mainly at the university level. Please check out our credentials as well as our teaching background under the heading "Our Credentials." We have provided photos and documents of our credentials and letters of recommendation for your perusal.
Classes, Bookings & Teaching Style
What can I get help with?
We offer 2 major services: 1) Private Teaching & Tutoring and 2) Proofreading & Editing.
You can get help with any skill or topic that you would like to improve. For example, if you are a student working on an English essay and/or on making a speech in English, we can help you step by step to write your essay and/or to make your speech. If you are a professional who needs to give a presentation or make a speech in English, we can help you with that as well.
To find out more about what we can help you with, take a look at our Skill Practice and Course Offerings sections on our Private Teaching & Tutoring page.
If you are interested in having any writing proofread and/or edited, please take a look at our information on our Proofreading & Editing page.
How do I book my classes?
After you have sent your order and paid your plan in full, we will be able to book your hours manually. We are located in the GMT+3 (Eastern European) or GMT+2 DST time zone, so we can accommodate Asian, South American and European learners.
We are happy to receive your bookings during a 12-hour window from Monday to Friday, and during a 10-hour window on Saturday. We do not work on Sundays.
Please check out more information on time zones as well as our specific hours of operation on our Pricing, Payment & Booking page.
Can I review my previous sessions?
Of course, you can review your previous sessions! In fact, we encourage you to ask questions about those items that you did not understand clearly. We prefer to work with very proactive and enthusiastic learners who already know what they want and need and who are willing to work hard to improve. Only in this way can we aid you to polish your knowledge of the English language. As a rule, we leave learners with some homework to complete. This homework then serves as review in the next session. The more review and practice you do, the more your English will improve.
We can also accommodate those learners who want to improve their fluency in a free speaking style. In this case, we will pay close attention to your pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary and idiomatic expressions and give you feedback at the end of each class.
What happens if I miss a class?
We regret to inform you that classes CANNOT be cancelled; they can only be rescheduled. We would like you to contact us at least 24 hours before your cancellation, so we could reschedule your class right away. Please review our Terms and Conditions.
If your are studying in pairs, or groups of 3 or 4 learners, and you have missed a class, we are NOT able to make up the class that you have missed while your partner or group members attended it. In this case, you can ask your partner or group members to reimburse you for the fees IF you paid together. If you paid separately, we regret to inform you that we cannot reimburse the fees of your missed classes. However, we can ask the other members of your mini class if we could record your class and then send it to you.
What happens if I can’t continue studying for all the hours that I bought? Can I get my money back?
We are sorry, but there is NO payment reimbursement. We can keep in touch with you until you can successfully finish all the hours you bought. If you cannot finish all the hours that you bought for whatever reasons, we suggest that you sell the leftover hours to someone who can replace you as a learner. Please review our Terms and Conditions.
Why are there only 50-minute, 75-minute and 150-minute study sessions?
We are now offering the choice of 150-minute classes ONLY once a week to those who are interested in longer classes.
We are willing to teach at most between 50 to 75 minutes at a time because, according to our experience, learner focus, as well as memory and retention decrease as study periods get longer. What this means is that learners usually get more bored and tired and remember fewer language items if they study for longer periods of time.
Robert and I both taught university students for about 2 to 3 hours at a time, and we both discovered that the students did not necessarily improve their English because of longer study periods. It is also easier to maintain a Skype session continuously going for 1 hour without an interruption in service. We give you a choice to study 50 minutes, 75 minutes and 150 minutes.
Can I choose my own study materials?
Of course, you can choose your own study materials! If you are already studying from a textbook or a book that you found very useful, it would be much easier for you to continue to do so. If you do not have any study materials, we can suggest study materials that are readily available on the internet. On our Home page, you can already access some of our very favorite websites that we have used over the years.
The internet is full of materials. The only problem learners have is how to get themselves in the mood to practice in an efficient way. This is the reason why we are here for you - to help you in this way!!!
Pricing, Special Offers & Subscriptions
How can we pay if we intend to study in pairs or groups of 3 or 4 learners?
If you intend to study in a pair or a group of 3 or 4 FRIENDS, please choose ONE learner who will be responsible for the online payment. If one of you wants to give up on studying earlier, then it is up to the remaining pair member or the remainder of the group members to reimburse him/her. Unfortunately, we do not reimburse any payment that has already been made. Please read very carefully our Terms and Conditions BEFORE making any payment to us.
If you don't mind studying in a group of 3 or 4 STRANGERS, we will ask you to pay your part of the tuition separately. However, if you miss a class, we will not be able to reimburse you for it. What we can do is to record the missed class and send it to you.
How often do you have Special Offers?
It all depends on how much business we have. We feel that we have already given learners a chance to save money with our carefully thought-out plans. If we feel that we need more learners, we will be offering Special Offers on our Facebook page.
Do I have to subscribe to your Facebook page?
You do not have to subscribe to our Facebook page; however, if you want to keep up with the Special Offers, it would be good for you if you subscribed. We would also highly appreciate your effort to support us on Facebook.

You do not have to subscribe to our YouTube channel; however, whenever time allows us, we do post all kinds of material on there, which you might find extremely useful and interesting. We would really appreciate your support on YouTube, so we can create more videos.
